Word is smallest independent units of language. Words have internal structure: built of even smaller pieces : Simple Word : Don't have internal structure ( only consist of one morpheme ). Ex : walk, play, and work . They can't be split into smaller part which carry meaning or function. Complex Word : Have internal structure ( consist of two or more morphemes ). Ex : walker.
